About Us
The Farm School is committed to reconnecting the kitchen with the land. Located on historic Los Rios Street in Old San Juan Capistrano, we have created a place where people can rediscover the simple pleasures of gathering and cooking.
In 2008, the Warkentien family and the Rancho Viejo Montessori School together acquired the 1903 Salvador Labat farmhouse in the historical Los Rios neighborhood of San Juan Capistrano. The renamed “Farm School on Los Rios” with its vintage Rose Cottage serves as our school’s land lab – a haven for education with emphasis on land based activities.
Today, although most of the homes are private residences, there are many businesses open to the public during business hours. This provides a relaxing and enchanting experience for locals and tourists alike. To walk the streets of the Los Rios District is to recapture the tranquility of the slower pace of life that existed before the turn of the century.
Located half way between Los Angeles and San Diego, The Farm School is close to the freeway, minutes from the airport, and walking distance from the train depot.
